Manufactured by Asahi Optical Co. in Japan, the Spotmatic was revolutionary for introducing Through-The-Lens (TTL) metering, allowing photographers to get more accurate exposures using the actual light coming through the lens—an innovation that set the standard for SLRs that followed.
