The Shimoda Core Unit Mirrorless RST L25 is a modular camera insert designed to help you organize and protect your gear with maximum flexibility. RST stands for Rear, Side, and Top access, giving you multiple ways to reach your equipment depending on the situation.
With this Core Unit, you can access your full kit from the back, grab your camera quickly from the side without taking off your backpack, or reach longer superzoom lenses from the top without opening the rear panel. It is made to fill the main compartment of the Shimoda Action X25 backpack, allowing it to carry and protect lenses up to 43 cm long, including models such as the Sony 200-600mm, Nikon 180-600mm, Canon 200-800mm, Fuji 150-600mm, and OM 150-600mm. These lenses can even stay mounted on a camera body.
Please note: RST Core Units are not compatible with Shimoda Explore series backpacks.
Flexible modular design
Shimoda calls these inserts Core Units because they form the heart of the Shimoda carrying system. Their modular construction lets you choose the right insert size for each trip, so your backpack setup can adapt to different shooting needs and travel plans.
While the RST25 is built to hold the maximum amount of gear the X25 can accommodate, the ability to swap in smaller Core Units gives you more control over weight, space, and pack layout.
